Hey, I’m Dan Misdea, a cartoonist for The New Yorker and children’s book author from New Jersey.

After graduating from Penn State with a degree in Economics, I spent several years working in finance and accounting before becoming a cartoonist in 2020.

Since then, my work has appeared in The New Yorker, Air Mail, Narrative, The Times Luxury, The Golfer’s Journal, and elsewhere. I’ve also contributed to anthologies such as Send Help!  by Ellis Rosen and Jon Adams, and New Jersey Fan Club by Kerri Sullivan. In 2024, I was awarded the Silver Reuben for Best Gag Cartoons by the National Cartoonists Society.

My first children’s book, The Light Inside, was nominated for an Eisner and my next book, AB@C: And Other Gramograms, with Rob Meyerson is available now.

When I’m not drawing cartoons, I might be golfing (poorly), giving tax advice to artists, or watching the Mets blow it in the 9th.
